Shiai Magazine: What is all about the Pan African Martial Arts Conference and Exhibition?
Khalil MAASI: Its a vehicle to present to the community at large the achievements of people of African descents contributions to the world of martial arts.
Shiai Magazine: Who are the organisers and sponsors behind the event ?
Khalil MAASI: MFSI (Maasi Family Sytem International), Essex County College Newark N.J. Institue of Africana Studies Department, Organization Of Black Falculty ans Staff Rutgers Newark, black Gold Sacred Living & Kha Khepera Shule
Shiai Magazine: Who are the special guest stars and invitees of the event?Any renowned martial artists, perfomers and scholars in African martial arts?
Khalil MAASI:We have several such as Taimak from 'The Last Dragon' filmaker Warrington Hudlin whoo is a martial artist, Prof. T.J. Obi Densch, Shaha Mfundishi Maasi, Kilindi Iyi and many more.
Shiai Magazine: What is actually Maasi Family System? What do you all gain by organizing such an event?
Khalil MAASI: The Maasi Family System is the compilation of myself and Shaha Mfundishi's lifetime experience in the world of martial arts and martial related knowledge. What gain from this event exposure for our organization and related works such as books, dvd's, films etc... for ourself as well as all of the participants and also for the world of Black martial artist in general.
Shiai Magazine: What can the public discover during the event? What's the program or time schedule, place and date?
Khalil MAASI: Things that they did not know about people of African descent in the world martial arts. The dates are Nov. 15th & 16th which is a Saturday and Sunday. These are all day events starting at 9:30 am on Sat and 11:30am on Sun.
Shiai Magazine: How many years you people have been organizing the event?Are there any main sponsors behind the event?
Khalil MAASI: We've been organizing for this the past year. The sponsers are the collges themselves. They are picking up the bill so the event is free of charge to the public.
Shiai Magazine: Do you think that more type of events should be organized around the world in the promotion of African Martial Arts? Can one day we see such events being organized in the motherland of Africa?
Khalil MAASI: I belive that these events will grow in popularity if the people desire and demand them. I definity see them happening in the motherland.
Shiai Magazine: What can Africans/Blacks gain from such an event being organized in their locality and society?
Khalil MAASI: a sense of pride, heritage and college of our past and present acheivements in the world of martial arts that most do not know exsist
Shiai Magazine: Are there any difficulites you people are facing in promoting such event? Did you people have facility inviting africans to come to America?
Khalil MAASI: Not much difficulty in promoting it since the colleges are hosting the event. We did not have a budget to bring in Africans from the continent but that is my wish for next year.

Khalil MAASI: Come check us out and learn more about the achievemnets of Blacks in the world of martial arts!
