Shiai Magazine is an online African Martial Arts Magazine supported by the Shiai African Martial Arts Sports Association (S.A.M.A.S.A) formerly called Shiai Sports Association (S.S.A) headed by Aurélien Henry OBAMA a Black African from Cameroon a central African country.
It is a pan African magazine in the valorization of African modern, traditional and diasporas systems of fighting ,very well known as African Martial Arts as a form of socio-cultural expression.
The promotion of the image of the African Warriors, promoting all Blacks/Africans who practices martial arts and sport combats in general across the entire world; the defender and the voice of the African warrior tradition.
Since Africa is birthplace of humanity and civilization Shiai Magazine opens to all races and people in the common interest of martial arts which can become a binding block of unity of peace and love within all nations.
All races, all people have a warrior culture and African warrior traditions are the oldest in the world.

Origins of shiai magazine
Shiai Magazine in relationship to Shiai Sports Association (S.S.A) now known as Shiai African Martial Arts Sports Association (S.A.M.A.S.A) was founded in Cameroon by the year 2002 by two friends who practices karate Shotokan at the Yaoundé II University SOA Karate Club under Sensei Francois Bertrand EMINI presently a 4th Dan Black Belt, a former Karate African champion and former captain of National Cameroon Karate team now converted to a police officer.
The first friend was rejected in the national team of an Eastern European country because he was Black. When he was a student there within year 1998 to 2000 and he was not able to finish his university studies there due to racism. He was obliged to come back to Cameroon. Even within his nation, he realized that due tribalism and favoritism, he will not be able to join national karate team of his country.
The second friend was frustrated due to lack of moral values, support, interest and help of youths in general who practices martial arts and who are not assisted by the martial arts associations and federations in Cameroon in particularly and in Africa in general. As a university Intellectual in Public Law and Political Science, he was always asking himself, what was he able to do after receiving a black belt in martial arts to improve things.
The two friends were: the first was Aurélien Henry OBAMA the actual Publisher of Shiai Magazine and the second was Fred Jérémie MEDOU NGOA the former Editor Manager of Shiai Magazine.
With the evolution of time, people like Cyrille BASSA FOUDA (former Marketing and Promotional Manager of Shiai Magazine) join the team and gave the idea in the creation of an association to defend Black Martial Artists and which will later on defend African Martial Arts.
Raoul BINIGA (former Web designer of Shiai Magazine) and Prosper OTTOU (actual webmaster of Shiai Magazine to present date) both specialists in Computer sciences and websites joined the team both gave birth to the website of Shiai Magazine.
Aurélien Henry OBAMA remains in contact with all those who have participated in the creation of Shiai Magazine, they continue to give their moral supports and efforts but due to social problems and other ambitions, they evolved into other projects of social development to help the country Cameroon in other sectors of needs.
The first African American to contact Shai Magazine was NUBA also known as Timothy Gage founder of TACRO (Traditional African Combat Research Organization) formerly called Alkebulan Warrior Society (A.W.S), he was the one to open the eyes of Aurélien Henry OBAMA to the true values of African fighting systems. Before Shiai Magazine was only based on Asian and Western martial arts practices in Africa. Due to NUBA Shiai Magazine become the mirror of African Martial Arts and the promotion of all Black martial artists all over the world.
In the year 2003, ending December Charlotte Collier a French citizen came to Cameroon due to invitation of Shiai Magazine. She was the vice president of an aikido association in Paris. She gave helped in the initiation of the website which was in the past shiaimagazine.com. She was the first European representative of Shiai Magazine.
Later on another in the year 2004 African American Khalil MAASI who is a film producer, writer, actor and martial artist contacted Aurélien Henry OBAMA, both men became good friends. With the help of Khalil MAASI put Aurélien Henry OBAMA in contact with many famous African Martial Artists in the USA and also sends him articles about the subject. Khalil MAASI all these past years have been struggling to look for means to make Shiai Magazine a printed magazine version in the USA to enable to touch and inspire more people of the true values of the African Warrior Tradition. He has helped in several time financially Shiai Magazine.
In the year 2009, Patrick Gorham an African American founder and president of NGO AfricaWrites.com came to Cameroon in the month of March due to the invitation of Shiai Magazine. The Two organizations have become associates and partners in the promotion of the African culture and tradition throughout the world. Patrick Gorham has always been supporting the efforts of Aurélien Henry OBAMA.
In the year 2010, Shiai Magazine through Aurélien Henry OBAMA has been in contact with Eloina Fernandez one the representative of Ronin and Agenda Marcial magazine a South American Martial Arts Magazine in p.d.f or flash format www.roninmagazine.webs.com Both magazines are from developing nations . They face the same problems concerning finance, means, promotion, distribution, information and technical assistances. Coming together can enable help one another by sharing each other know how, experience, contacts and means.
Shiai Magazine is supported once more by Shiai African Martial Arts Sports Association (S.A.M.A.S.A) run by Aurélien Henry OBAMA who is the president of the association. The role of the association is promotion of martial arts in Africa and International Black communities. To restore, valorize and save the heritage of the African Warrior Tradition through promotion of African Martial Arts be it Modern, Traditional or Diasporas fighting systems. Construct a permanent network or platform of contacts and exchange between African Martial Artists and the rest of the world.
Within the Association is the creation of an African Martial Arts Demonstration Team and African Martial Arts Research Centre: Projects which need to be supported.
